Turning Point (Veteran’s Honor) Turning Point (Veteran’s Honor) symbolizes the process of returning “to the bud”: rebirth. The partial Italian calendar for Agosto (August) commemorates the days of diagnosis and waiting which my husband and I experienced right on the heals of a second honeymoon trip to Italy. The hand-written text is an amalgam of poetry he wrote during our courtship and excerpts from the I Ching. As the third woman in my family to receive a breast cancer diagnosis in as many years, I felt like a veteran from the outset, yet the experience seems to have made me think and feel younger.
