Winged Viktory (Tropicana)

Winged Viktory (Tropicana) is a collection of ramblings on the feminine mystique. It includes “flying” ovaries and uterus (referencing a not-so-pleasant gift of chemotherapy, abrupt menopause.) Statistics describe the characteristics of beautiful roses, our girlish and not-so-girlish figures, or our predicted survival rates. The two cups are full and half full, not half empty. Viktory is the name of a china teacup pattern and a epithet of the winged goddess Nike. The Tropicana rose reminds me of Carmen Miranda, the seductive and campy “lady in the tutti-frutti hat!”
