Standard of Care (Fragrant Cloud) Standard of Care (Fragrant Cloud) expresses gratitude for compassionate medical care. Fragrant Cloud is a vibrant, cadmium red, in-your-face rose. It reaches upward in full bloom, conveying my unusual experience of anesthesia and surgery as a kind of spiritual “opening”. A schematic of a breast, and the double angels of matter and spirit, inhabit the petals, along with the word unforgettable, emphasizing the table (as in operating table.) The “Thank You” comes from Chinese take out, as does the hand with chopsticks, collaged onto a quizzical bespectacled rat. This image has been selected for The Wellness Community’s holiday card.
